Full-Size Backup And Offline Notebook Export#
LabArchives provides a web UI option called Create Offline Notebook. That can
be useful for reading an exported notebook, but it is not the same goal as a
full-size preservation backup.
Create Offline Notebook#
The web export is useful when a user wants a quick offline HTML-style copy. In practice, it may omit or compress some content, and it is not designed as a complete local preservation workflow for every original attachment.
BenchVault Backup#
BenchVault targets full-size backup through the backup API when the signed-in account has permission. It keeps the original downloaded archive, extracts a readable copy, checks reported attachment sizes, and records local integrity fingerprints so later file changes are visible in the viewer.
Which One Should I Use?#
Use the LabArchives web export when a lightweight offline reading package is enough.
Use BenchVault when the lab needs a local preservation copy, attachment evidence, searchable review, and warnings if protected local backup files change after the backup.
